I'm a redheaded vampire!

So before Christmas I said I was either going brunette or red...RED! With fangs. :)

Yeah, the color's exaggerated red in this picture...I'll get up one where the color shows up better soon.

P.S. - Happy New Year's Eve, Y'all!

A designated HAPPY POST

It's been brought to my attention that some of my recent posts the other night were...slightly less than uplifting (yes, you, angry vent post). In my defense...sleep deprivation. :P But seriously, I think I must be vaguely bipolar but only after about 11PM and on a super hyped up on coffee schedule so I cycle back and forth in minutes instead of days. Apologies.

So to make up for it, this is a designated HAPPY POST! Enjoy!

Ten things that make me happy (in no particular order):

  1. Space heater
  2. Tea of any and all kinds (especially when garnished by greens or shared with friends)
  3. Coffee
  4. Fuzzypaws
  5. Music
  6. Kim
  7. Sunrises/sunsets (xtra points if it's on a brand new horizon)
  8. Driving + music
  9. Traveling anywhere
  10. The moment when the plane takes of and the wheels just leave the pavement ;)
I like fire too! :) Are you jealous of my insanely cool lake house with awesome fireplace, yet?

And jellyfish!

And stormy beaches!

And seagulls! Check out that one on the left trying to catch that cracker :)

And this hat, which I purchased in Williamsburg. Doesn't it look great with my biker jacket? lol

Okay, have I restored your enthusiasm? ;)

crazy family blogs

Wow...okay, so I was cruising that next blog thing that blogspot does and stumbled across four--FOUR--of these family blogs where different branches of the family keep track of each other with pictures, stories, yada yada, you know the drill. But they were updated almost daily. Daily!

This leads me to several conclusions:

  1. These families are WAAAAY more technologically advanced than mine. I can't even get my dad and bro to check their facebooks when I beg, plead, and refuse to show them pictures on my computer.
  2. These families actually care what happens to each other, which, given by family background, is kind of a novel idea. I can't get my family to give a flying crap about me when we're in the same room and all they have to do is talk to me, much less when they're elsewhere and it would take effort. I'm not even facebook friends with any of my family besides my dad and bro...
  3. These families do stuff together...weddings, reunions, barn dances, marathons. My family doesn't do anything together but eat and offend each other.
  4. I think I'm actually quite jealous of these families.
I'd like to say that one day I'll have one of those families but I really don't believe it any more. My dad and bro don't even give two craps half the time and I'm not sure I'll ever have kids. It's kind of sad...the one thing I wanted most growing up was a big loving family and it's probably the one thing I can never have.

Oh well, at least I'm not alone--tons of people's families suck and don't care. Maybe I'll just end up with a nice "family" of friends...though I doubt we'll ever have a cheesy joint blog. Haha, maybe they'll just follow this one...

Right. lol

Fuzzypaws!

So I think I want to start a puppy bandana business and call it Fuzzypaws after my dog's nickname. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find cute doggy bandanas, especially for a midsize (long haired dachshund/black lab) mutt. I bought some scrap fabric from the fabric shop and as soon as I get inspired I'll unpack the sewing machine and get to it...

I made a Fuzzypaws graphic. What can I say, I love my little fellow! I imagine it's how people feel looking at their kids, that sort of "awwwww, I just want to hug you" thing. ;) lol

I miss my beeper

I have a bad habit of dropping my keys--price of not being weighed down by an obnoxious purse, I suppose, but my car beeper is getting a bit old and so now it's started popping apart when it hits the ground. Up to now its been no big deal cause my dad just snapped it back together for me, but this last time we must have put it back wrong and now it doesn't work. :( You never realize how much you use and appreciate that little beeper until you suddenly have to start locking and unlocking your vehicle manually...and without the justification of have a cool old car.

My sad, broken little beeper--note the Harry Potter keychain (it's kinda hard to see here):

My not cool old car (though it has a sunroof and leather seats and I love it dearly nonetheless):

Yes, that's FOUR mattresses tied on top. These sorts of impractical driving conditions make me so happy. :) That's why I'm prop driver for the dance studio anytime they let me be...just never let men load your vehicle--the 'just keep pushing' is none too kind to poor innocent cars and SUVs.

Build a Freakin' Roof!

For the last month or so, Dad and I have been working on putting a new roof on our lake house. Some pictures of our progress:

Leilu

Very cool picture I took of my best friend's cat, Leilu. Maybe I should become a pet photographer.

Loki, meet snow...

Athens finally for the first time in...at least my lifetime, maybe forever, got a white Christmas. It started coming down the afternoon of the 25th and didn't stop until midmorning of the 26th. It's still on the ground now (but not much of it, this is the South after all).

It was Loki's first time seeing snow so I had to take pictures:

So much fun. :)
Hoping the old saying that if snow stays on the ground 3 days or longer you'll get more is true and we get more soon!
